We’re limping along with a 30-38-0 record with three plus-money underdogs. We missed the Suns -3.5 point cover when Suns forward Jae Crowder missed the backend of a pair of free-throws with eighteen seconds left in the ballgame.
Golden State Warriors vs Brooklyn Nets 730 pm Eastern
Two of the best teams in the NBA square off tonight at Barclays Center when the 11-2 Golden State Warriors meet the 10-4 Brooklyn Nets. The Warriors are 8-4-1 ATS overall and 2-2-0 ATS as the away team while the Nets are 7-7-0 ATS this season and 3-3-0 ATS at home.
Golden State is 4-1 over their last five games but suffered a four-point away defeat at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets. The Warriors are first in scoring and third in points allowed. They play at the fifth-fastest pace and are second in total rebounds per game. Stephen Curry is second in scoring and the Warriors supporting cast has been solid on both ends of the floor.
Brooklyn has injuries to deal with tonight with the main one being fourth leading scorer and solid defender Joe Harris. The Nets are 4-1 over their last five games with a three-game winning streak on the line tonight. Brooklyn is fifteenth in points scored, eighth in points allowed and second in field goal percentage. Brooklyn plays at the tenth fastest pace in the NBA and ranks twenty-third in total rebounds. Kevin Durant leads the league in scoring while James Harden has struggled due in part because of his inability to get to the free-throw line.
We like the Warriors in this spot tonight. Golden State has the best record in the league and maybe they looked past Charlotte in their Sunday night loss? Losing Harris and Paul Milsap is going to hurt the Nets on the defensive end of the floor and that leaves a hole on the floor the rest of the Nets can’t fill. The Warriors defense has been lights out and they appear to be healthy and Gary Payton II has been a welcome spark plug off of the bench. Consider the Warriors and take the three points tonight.
Cash with Flash Tuesday NBA Pick: Golden State Warriors +3 points
Free NHL Pick
We’re 0-2-0 with our NHL picks this season and missed last night’s Detroit Red Wings underdog play. Detroit blew two leads last night and that was a head-scratcher to say the least but we are going to continue chasing underdogs and we have one for you to consider tonight.
Montreal Canadiens vs New York Rangers
Montreal enters tonight on a two-game losing streak and has dropped four of their past five games. New York is red-hot with a three-game winning streak on the line when the puck drops at 7pm eastern.
Montreal is 4-13-0 on the moneyline this season with a 4-11-2 overall record and is 1-6-1 as the away side. The Canadiens rank thirty-first in scoring and twenty-ninth in goals against and have allowed at least three goals or more in four of their past five contests (all losses). Cayden Primeau is slated to make his first start of the season and over six career starts boasts a record of 2-3-1 with a 3.55 GAA alongside a 88 percent save percentage.
New York is 9-6-0 on the moneyline and boasts a 9-3-3 record and is 3-1-1 this season at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers are twenty-third in scoring and seventeenth in goals allowed and have allowed three goals or less in each of their last three contests (all wins). Igor Shesterkin is confirmed to be protecting the cage and is 7-2-2 this season with a 2.46 GAA alongside a 92 percent save percentage.
The moneyline for the Rangers is unplayable for us at -200 and we can’t trust Montreal and its 1-10 away record over its last eleven contests. Montreal has a goaltender making his first start of the season and I suspect NY is going to unload on this kid tonight. Montreal has been awful behind the blue line and allows too many goals per game for my liking. Montreal has a hard time scoring and up against a solid goaltender and a scrappy New York Rangers side. The puck line is where the value lies and we think New York wins by two goals in this one. Consider taking the Rangers on the puck line tonight.
Cash with Flash Tuesday NHL Pick: New York Rangers -1.5 goals +130
Free College Basketball Pick
A 5-10-1 non-conference record thus far has been disappointing but we hit last night’s Buffalo Bulls pick. That was a good win and maybe the start of a nice run.
Virginia Cavaliers vs Houston Cougars 8pm Eastern
This should be a good one when the Virginia Cavaliers of the ACC meet the fifteenth ranked Houston Cougars of the American Athletic Conference. Virginia is 1-1 this season while Houston is off to a 2-0 start. Houston is a 7.5 point home favorite in this one.
Virginia is just outside the Top 25 but they are a solid team with a solid defense with an above average offense. They are 1-1-0 ATS and are coming off of a twenty-one point over Radford and their lone loss came at home in an eight-point home loss to Navy. The Cavaliers are near the bottom of the college game in scoring but rank sixty-sixth in the nation in points allowed. Virginia turns the ball over an above average twelve times per contest and are better three-point shooters than they are closer to the cup.
Houston ranks fifteenth in the country and are riding a twenty-seven game winning streak at Fertitta Center. The Cougars are 2-0-0 ATS overall with an identical ATS home record. Houston possesses a top-twenty offense with an eighth ranked defense according to Kenpom and ranks eighteenth in turnovers (9) and the fifteen assists per game gives them a solid turnover-assist ratio. Houston shoots an average of twenty-seven triples per night and makes an above average 37 percent of them this season.
We like Houston in this one. They have a solid offense with a suffocating defense that will likely cause Virginia to turn the ball over in what will be a hostile Fertitta Center crowd. Both teams play a below-average tempo and that also bodes well as this benefits the home team more than it does for Virginia. The Cavaliers simply don’t have the offense to outscore the three-point shooting, suffocating defense playing Cougars. Houston has the height-advantage as well as a deeper and more experienced bench. Consider Houston covering the spread tonight.
Cash with Flash Tuesday CBB Pick: Houston Cougars -7.5 points
Free College Football Pick
We missed Saturday’s UL Monroe -3 points pick thanks to a last minute Arkansas State cover. UL Monroe took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter and were outscored ten to nothing to lose the game. That loss leaves us with a 46-37-1 college football record but we have a good one tonight for you.
Toledo Rockets vs Ohio Bobcats
This is a HUGE game for Toledo as they need six wins in order to be eligible for a post-season bowl bid. Toledo won big last week on the road against Bowling Green and Ohio has won two straight including a two-point home upset over Miami of Ohio. Toledo is a seven-point away favorite tonight.
Toledo is riding the struggle bus and has won just two of their last five games. The Rockets rank thirty-seventh in scoring and thirty-third in points allowed. Toledo has lost four contests by three points or less and is 6-4-0 ATS overall and 3-2-0 ATS as the away side this season. The Rockets also rank fourth in the country in giveaways averaging less than one per matchup.
Ohio has also won just two of their last five contests but they have some momentum after winning consecutive games against Miami of Ohio and Eastern Michigan. The Bobcats ranks ninety-ninth in scoring and 101 in points allowed. Ohio ranks twenty-sixth in rushing yards per game and fifty-ninth in giveaways with nearly two per game. Four of the Bobcats seven losses have been by seven points or more and Ohio is 3-7-0 ATS overall and 1-4-0 ATS at home this season.
We like Toledo in this one. They have Akron in next week’s season finale and seven wins on their resume would almost guarantee the Rockets a bowl game but they need this win tonight. Toledo has a much better defense with a far more consistent offense that rarely turns the ball over. Ohio likes to run the football and they’re forty-sixth in the country and a yard shy of 200 yards per game but Toledo allows the forty-sixth least amount of rushing yards and they aren’t going to roll over and play dead for the Bobcats rushers. Ohio will have to throw the football and sophomore QB Kurtis Rourke has tossed six TD’s without an interception over the past two contests but has thrown four picks this season. Consider laying the seven points and taking the Rockets to cover the seven points tonight!
Cash with Flash Tuesday NCAAF Pick: Toledo Rockets -7 points
Good luck today!
